The Return of Ego…

It was warm June evening…there was the scent of something sinister in the air. The Bouncer was on a rampage. He had one intention tonight to get Ego back from the lair of Gamblour. Ego had been trapped there for sometime and all attempts to expedite his release had gone in vane. But tonight was different.

Bouncer was a large man, he looked like two rugby players mashed together and he was angry…very angry! He was a nice chap tho, he protected folk for a reasonable fee, a fee that was expected you understand. I believe there are three certainties in this life…death taxes and Bouncers impeding fist upon your face should you neglect your responsibilities. Apparently someone a done a legger and he was not a happy man.

Knocking the gates off their hinges with one swoop of his boot, he sauntered inside. As soon as the gates hit the ground there was a siren that let out a whaling scream so high it tore through his eardrums like pitchfork! Bouncer fell to his knees in a desperate attempt to cover his ears and ease the pain. The beast charged at him, pinning him to the ground and sinking its claws into his body. He reached for his trusty bat and began smashing its face into oblivion with a look of pure rage in his eyes, but it was futile. It didn’t even bruise it! Plan B he thought to himself as he ran for Egos cell with the Beast in close pursuit. He found Ego quickly but getting him out would not be easy. I was tired and weary from malnourishment. Bouncer handed me a concoction that was supposed to regain my strength I drank it as he flung me over his back and made for the door. Some where inside we could hear the Beasts terrifying screams. There was light and we were home free. By this time I could walk, I could feel the serum course through my veins and invigorate me. We headed for the Ego mobile (tm returnofruncie.blogspot.com).

It was dilapidated and run down from its lack of use but I had faith in her. We jumped in, Bouncer tapped me on the shoulder and pointed behind me. Gamblour had seen us and was gaining fast. I turned the key and prayed…to everything!
There was a crackling sound and a few spits…it didn’t sound good and we were short on time!
VROOOOOOOOM VROOOOOOOM!!!! The engine let of a huge ROAR! Drive you idiot DRIVE!!! Screamed Bouncer,
I slammed my foot to the floor as the car Screeched off into the distance!
That was close man…too close

We headed for the City. I was weary for a drink and hadn’t seen the big smoke in over a year. The taste of freedom was in my mouth as we sped around the corners. The Ego Mobil was a little rusty but she remembered my touch she was solid as always taking the corners at speed and with ease.

By the time we arrived in the city it was dusk and the street lights lit our way. I parked in my usual spot just outside The Club. Some of the old school gang were still there, Bouncer introduced me to some of the newbie’s I didn’t care to remember their names. They weren’t important. After a few we headed for the Pit. A dingy shit hole but not as bad as some the places around here. It was large and had a lot of bars and it was always busy. Oh yeah and the foozball! I liked that. We played late into the night, until Bouncer got pissed off and smashed the table. I was bored of it anyway. I thought it would be easier than this, but something felt off. I had been away too long. I was rusty, talkin to Broads wasn’t as easy as it used to be, but I figured all I needed was a little time.

Anyways it was late the dawn was creeping up over the buildings I headed home. I lay down on my bed looking up at the familiar cracks in the ceiling and thought to myself, its good to be back.
